Isolation and Characterization of Triterpenoid Saponins from Ficus natalensis subsp. leprieurii Leaves

Ficus natalensis subsp. leprieurii also known as the natal fig is a fruit-producing tree belonging to family Moraceae and widely distributed in African countries cultivated Egypt. F. common with myriad of traditional medicinal importance. Owing increased demand for natural products new structural compositions, current study aimed separate elucidate structure triterpenoid saponins from leaves. Our previous biological investigation leaves revealed its potent antioxidant anti-inflammatory characteristics, ability alleviate Cd-induced reproductive toxicity. Phytochemical separation elucidation seven (1–7) compounds using NMR MS data identified first time natalensis. The isolated were 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl (1 → 4) β-D-glucopyranosyl 4)–α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-quinovic acid-28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl 4)–α-L-rhamnopyranosyl 2)–α-L-arabinopyranoside ester (1), α-L rhamnopyranosyl-quinovic 2) α-L-arabinopyranoside (2), 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl–quinovic (3), 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-quinovic acid-28-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (4), oleanolic acid (5), 3-methoxy-oleanolic acid-28-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (6), 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-oleanolic (7).
